Description

A stunning 18th-century English creamware tureen, possibly by Wedgwood or Leedsware, richly decorated with pastoral and floral scenes. The body is adorned with depictions of a shepherd and his flock, onlookers dining, and bouquets of flowers and foliage, showcasing the refined artistry of English creamware production in the Georgian period.

Its most distinctive features lie in its sculptural handles: the lid crowned with a pomegranate finial and the base fitted with twisted branch handles sprouting from floral vines. Adding to its uniqueness, the tureen is inscribed “Hristen Hansen Anno 1781” on both base and lid, marking it as a piece of personal and historical significance.

With gentle wear consistent with age, this tureen remains suitable for careful use and stands as a remarkable centrepiece for collectors and connoisseurs of early English ceramics.
