Description

A fine example of late 18th to early 19th-century English craftsmanship, this Leeds Creamware sauceboat is elegantly modelled in the form of a scallop shell, reflecting the refined neoclassical aesthetic of the period. The design includes delicately feathered rims and an entwined strap handle adorned with floral terminals, hallmarks of the meticulous artistry of Leeds Pottery.

The piece’s ivory-toned glaze enhances the crisp detail, while its silver-shaped form lends a timeless sense of sophistication. A comparable example was sold at Christie’s, underscoring its rarity and desirability among collectors.

In very good condition, this sauceboat is a distinguished addition to any collection of early English ceramics, blending elegance, history, and fine craftsmanship.

Condition: Very good, light wear consistent with age
Provenance: England, late 18th–early 19th century
